Student Affairs IT Oversight Committee
With the creation of the Student Affairs IT department in August 2005 and the implementation of the Division's Strategic Planning Process there is a need for an entity to review and prioritize all significant Student Affairs IT projects (introduction of a new component in the SAIT environment or significant modifications in an existing component).
Accordingly, the Student Affairs IT Oversight Committee (SAITOC) has been appointed by Dr. John Saddlemire, Vice President for Student Affairs, and will serve in a supporting role to the SAIT department and the management staff of the Division. The overall goal for this Committee (made up from one representative of each department in Student Affairs) is to determine if and how proposed IT projects meet the needs of the Department and Division’s Strategic Planning Goals to enhance functional operations in the pursuit of providing the best service to our students. SAITOC is thus charged with the following specific duties:
- Manage a process, in consultation with SAIT, for receiving and recording project requests from Student Affairs departments.
- Manage a timely process for reviewing all department/unit authorized IT related projects, based on the Division's Critical Issues as defined by the Strategic Planning Committee.
- Define IT Service Priorities for Division
- Prioritize IT projects for the SAIT department.
When reviewing projects, the following criteria are considered in priority assignment:
- Mission-critical process that has no serviceable alternative in place
- Mission-critical process that has a serviceable (but not ideal) alternative in place
- Project addresses one or more of the Strategic Plan Critical Issues and has the greatest impact on the Division
- Project addresses one or more of the Strategic Plan Critical Issues
- Project promotes the more efficient use of resources
- Project enhances services for students and/or staff
